Three-Day Mediation Training at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA)
From 15 to 17 July 2026, the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA) successfully conducted its third three-day mediation training course. The initiative was organized in response to the continued development of the mediation field and the steadily growing interest in mediation practice.
The training aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the nature of mediation, its fundamental principles, and the procedures governing its conduct, while combining theoretical instruction with practical exercises.
On the first day, Lilit Petrosyan, Director of the AMCA, and Zaruhi Papoyan, AMCA mediator, introduced the fundamentals of mediation, the role of the mediator, the pathway to becoming a mediator, and the procedure for submitting settlement agreements for judicial approval. The session also addressed the importance of the mediator’s neutrality, independence, and impartiality, as well as the role of the Center in safeguarding these fundamental principles.
The second day focused on the key legal and practical aspects of mediation. Natalya Adamyan, lawyer, mediator, and certified mediation trainer, delivered sessions on the principles and conduct of mediation and the drafting of settlement agreements. Syuzanna Poghosyan, mediator, attorney-at-law, and Founding Director of Andromeda Law Office, presented the topic of mandatory mediation and its specific features in matrimonial and family disputes. She outlined the particularities of applying mediation in this area and shared insights drawn from her professional practice.
The third day focused on the psychological dimensions of mediation and the development of skills required to understand human behavior and establish effective communication. Inga Harutyunyan, PhD in Psychology, lecturer, and social sector expert, delivered a session entitled “The Psychology of Mediation: The Art of Understanding People and Communicating Effectively.”
The practical component included a simulated mediation role-play. The exercise gave participants the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired throughout the course, act in the role of a mediator, and strengthen their communication, conflict-resolution, and dispute-management skills.
The three-day training featured professional discussions, practical exercises, and question-and-answer sessions. Upon completion of the course, participants were awarded certificates of participation, marking the successful conclusion of three days of intensive learning and practical work.
